Ohio State football on verge of losing TE commit to Mike Norvell and Florida State

This would not be ideal for Ryan Day.

While Ohio State football remains the No. 1 team in the country and they're the reigning national champs, it doesn't mean everything has been going swimmingly out on the recruiting trail. Unfortunately, it looks like things are about to get worse thanks to Mike Norvell and Florida State.

Since late November, tight end Corbyn Fordham has been Ohio State-bound, committing to the Buckeyes over several other tenders. However, he's a Florida State legacy and Norvell hasn't stopped working to get him to flip. This week, On3's Steve Wiltfong put in a prediction on Rivals for the Noles to get that job done. Usually when that happens, things are pretty much set in stone.

Florida State is working overtime to flip Ohio State TE commit Corbyn Fordham

Out of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla., Fordham checks in at 6-3, 215 pounds. He's ranked three stars and the No. 33 tight end in the country according to the 247Sports Composite. He has picked up 36 offers throughout his recruitment.

He has only taken one official visit thus far, making the trip to Columbus in late May to meet with Day and his staff. The expectation was that Ohio State was going to be able to fend off the Seminoles and other schools for Fordham, but now things aren't looking that way.

Jim Knowles' performance vs. Oregon showed he made the wrong move leaving Ohio State

Fordham's father Todd played for Florida State from 1992-1996, suiting up for the Noles' National Championship-winning squad in '93. Despite that, Fordham surprised a lot of people when he originally told Day and Co. that he was going to be Big Ten-bound for his college ball.

With Florida State just losing to Virginia on the road last Friday, the program has been in need of some positive news - it looks like Fordham is about to give it to him. This of course will prove to be a bummer for Ohio State, but it's not going to be a back-breaking loss by any means. The Buckeyes still have a Top 10 2026 class on the way, but Day will more than likely need to find a TE target to go after sooner rather than later.
