The Ohio State football program has a long history of players turning into coaches. Several former players have started coaching in both the collegiate in the NFL ranks as head coaches. Brian Hartline just recently got his first head coaching opportunity, taking the USF job.

Hartline is staying on staff with the Ohio State Buckeyes during the College Football Playoff run. Former Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George is coaching Bowling Green. Another Ohio State football legend has been given a head coaching opportunity, but it isn't in the college game or the NFL.

Ted Ginn Jr. is one of the best receivers that Jim Tressel had on his roster. Ginn Jr. was a special teams menace, threatening to return every kickoff and punt for a touchdown. Now he has transitioned into being a head coach in the UFL for Columbus' expansion franchise.

Ohio State receiver Ted Ginn Jr. gets head coaching job for the. Columbus Aviators

The newest franchise in the UFL is the Columbus Aviators. They will play their games at Historic Crew Stadium, becoming the first professional football franchise to play in Columbus since the Arena Football League was around. Now, Ginn Jr. will be their first head coach.

Ginn Jr, doesn't have any head coaching experience prior to this chance. In fact, he doesn't have any prior coaching experience at all. This is certainly an interesting dynamic for Ginn Jr. This is certainly a ploy to get fans to show up and watch the upstart franchise, but it might work.

If Ginn Jr. ends up liking his coaching experience with the Aviators, there's a chance that he decideds to move on to either the NFL or the collegiate level. Of course, the former Buckeye could end up being a successful head coach, and might just stay in the UFL as long as he can.

We wish Ginn Jr. nothing but the best in his new endeavor. We'll be watching the Aviators and hoping for great success.
