Talk about a slap on the wrist.

The breaking news to start the week sure has a lot of people talking. In case you missed it, Michigan handed a two-game suspension to head coach Sherrone Moore as part of the punishment for the scouting case surrounding Connor Stalions, per an ESPN report.

This is a bit head-turning for the university going this route after claiming it did nothing wrong, right? Well, the suspension indeed has come in for Moore, but Ohio State Buckeyes fans can't help but laugh at the route the university decided to take.

Yes, Moore is being suspended for two games, but not to start the season. Instead, Moore's suspension will be for Week 3 and Week 4 when the Wolverines take on Central Michigan and Nebraska, respectively. Give us a break:

Ohio State fans are furious over the 2-game suspension for Michigan HC Sherrone Moore

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel and Dan Wetzel, this decision on Moore 'ties back to allegations that he deleted a thread of 52 text messages with Stalions.' Ohio State fans remain unhappy with Michigan for cheating its way to a National Championship with Jim Harbaugh in 2023.

While the Wolverines continue to be adamant nothing illegal has gone down, a lot of people would disagree with that. Why in the world would Moore be suspended for two games? It's clear that Michigan knows it's in trouble, but the hope is that by getting ahead of things and handing down this kind of a punishment, maybe the NCAA won't drop the hammer on them instead.

No one is buying the notion that Michigan has run a fully clean program in recent years. Wolverines supporters continue to bash the Buckeyes over the four-game winning streak on the gridiron, but there's definitely a black eye on the program right now.

A quick look on social media shows that Buckeyes Nation as a whole is pretty livid with Michigan, but plenty of other fanbases are getting in on things too. Yeah, a two-game suspension sounds rough, but not when it comes against CMU and the Cornhuskers. If Michigan wanted people to take it seriously, Moore would have been off the field for the Week 2 clash with Oklahoma. This is a slap on the wrist and nothing more.
