The Ohio State football team has done a good job of executing in the first three weeks of the season. They have won each of their non-conference games and will now start Big Ten play as the undefeated number-one team in the country when they take on Washington in a couple of weeks.

As they head into the first bye week of the season, they are looking at some things that they need to clean up in preparation for conference play. One of those things is running the ball a little bit better. One running back has emerged as seemingly the biggest home run threat the Ohio State Buckeyes have.

That back is freshman Bo Jackson. Jackson has had back-to-back weeks of over 100 yards rushing on nine carries in each contest. On Tuesday, Ryan Day was asked about the possibility of him seeing more snaps due to the impressive stats he has put up so far.

Ryan Day hints the Ohio State football team will give Bo Jackson more opportunities

Day seems to hint that the Buckeyes will be giving Jackson more opportunities to carry the football in future games.

“It doesn’t take a veteran coach to recognize talent when you see it, and Bo has talent ... We’re going to keep bringing him along, and the more he can take, the more we’re going to give him."

Day mentioned that if Jackson can keep improving in his pass protection, then he will certainly get more opportunities to play.

"The number one thing is ball security, taking care of that football. Then, there's pass protection. Then, there are all those things. He's checked these boxes. I mean, he's doing a nice job. ... He's gonna get plenty of carries this year."

It sure sounds like the Buckeyes are open to giving Jackson more chances to carry the ball when they resume play in a couple of weeks. With what Jackson has shown, he has absolutely earned those opportunities. He's an explosive back that has power and speed, a rare combination.

There's a chance that Jackson ends up being the starting lineup in a few weeks when the Buckeyes are really trying to establish the run. He has shown himself to be the back who has the chance of getting consistent yards when he has the ball in his hands over the last couple of games. Now, he just needs consistent carries.
