Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Ryan Day has a forgiving heart.

After Maxx Crosby called for Day to be fired after OSU's controversial Week 14 loss to TTUN last season, Day invited the Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman to Columbus and gave him a grand tour of the facilities.

Per Cleveland.com's Stefan Krajisnik, Day was made aware of the comments.

"Despite the comments getting back to Day, according to Crosby, the standout defensive end was allowed in Ohio State’s facilities," Krajisnik wrote.

Crosby admitted he enjoyed the visit thoroughly.

“Ohio State facilities welcomed me with open arms and rolled out the red carpet for me,” Crosby said on his podcast last week. “It was a great experience.

“Big shoutout to the Buckeyes. As everyone knows, I grew up an Ohio State fan — die-hard Ohio State fan. I know I had some comments about our guy, but he came through. What did I say? He’s got to win a natty, and look what they did."

Day has unquestionably the worst PR in all of college football.

Even though he repeatedly coached OSU to the CFP and finally got over the hump in 2024/2025, Day is still not safe by most accounts. Hiring Matt Patricia as defensive coordinator, in particular, was the kind of move that could spectacularly backfire. Even promoting Brian Hartline to offensive coordinator was a lateral move, at best. At least from a narrative perspective.

Who knows? Maybe when the games are played, the overwhelming amount of talent will make good on their NIL price tags and sustain the standard OSU has held in the NIL era. Hell, Day can't even get credit for being the fundraiser who convinced the Buckeyes' booster class to write those checks in the first place.

Regardless, Day's questionable PR got a massive boost with Crosby's kind words about the head coach and the behind-the-scenes of the program he runs.

Does it undo all the previous damage? Of course not. But it's something.
