It is still offseason mode for Jake Diebler and the Ohio State basketball team. We know what the majority of the roster will look like for next season, but there are still some spots to fill with players in the transfer portal. One transfer portal target for Jake Diebler has just become available again.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Texas Tech transfer forward Darrion Williams was participating in the NBA Draft Combine and now has withdrawn his name from the draft and is currently in the transfer portal.

Last season at Texas Tech, Darrion Williams averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. Plus averaged 21 points on the Red Raiders' run to the Elite 8, 23 points coming in that game to the eventual National Champion Florida Gators.

According to Jeff Goodman of Field of 68, the favorites to land Williams are Kansas and NC State. BYU and others have also been rumored to be in on Williams as well. While those are the leaders, Ohio State has been and still plans to be very much in the mix for the 5-star transfer forward.

If Diebler is able to pull this one off and land Williams, it would give the Buckeyes a major boost in scoring on the wing. He’s a three-level scorer who likes to utilize his size against smaller wings and score through them in the post with a nice mid-range game.

It’s going to be a tough race competing for Williams, but reports suggest he has been at the top of Diebler’s list, so hopefully he won’t go down without a fight. Landing Williams would increase the chances of the Ohio State basketball team getting back to the NCAA Tournament, so Diebler needs to go all in on this one.

It's unclear when Williams will make his final decision.
