The Ohio State basketball team is officially on a roll. It looked like their season was over after losing to Indiana at home at the Schott. Not only that, but it looked like they were going to miss out on playing in the Big Ten Tournament as well. Things have certainly changed since that time.
Since that loss, the Buckeyes have won at Purdue, blown out Iowa, and now they have also crushed Penn State. The Ohio State Buckeyes won on the road against the Nittany Lions 83-64. Getting this win means that Ohio State has won three games in a row and is officially on a hot streak.
The Ohio State basketball team takes down Penn State to get on a roll
Once again, Bruce Thornton had himself a great game. He had 17 points and made 5-7 from the three-point line. When he is as efficient from deep as he was in this game, it's really hard for another team to beat Ohio State, no matter what kind of talent they have.
Thornton wasn't the leading scorer for the Buckeyes, though. That honor went to John Mobley Jr. Juni Mobley had 19 points on 6-14 shooting from the field. He hit some deep threes, stretching the Nittany Lions defense past the point that they were comfortable defending.
The great thing about this game from Mobley Jr. is that it wasn't just his scoring that was great. He also finished the game with six rebounds and eight assists. He had a great all-around game. Mobley Jr. has grown into a player that the Buckeyes can count on night in and night out.
Four Buckeyes scored in double-figures in this game. All of them were starters. When they can get an all-around scoring effort like that, it's hard to lose. That's especially true when you're playing bad teams, which Penn State is. This is a game Ohio State had to win.
The Ohio State basketball team is now 13-8 on the season and 5-5 in the Big Ten. They have a chance to get a ranked win this weekend at Illinois. That would really get them some confidence if they were able to do that.
