Ohio State Basketball should go after this top local transfer

It's officially transfer portal season and Jake Diebler should waste no time trying to bring in this talented local transfer for the Ohio State basketball team.

While missing the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season, and not partaking in any other form of postseason action, it puts the Ohio State basketball team fully into offseason mode. Not having any idea what this roster could look like next season, it’s another important offseason for Jake Diebler to try and get the Buckeye Basketball program back into the national spotlight again.

Even though the NCAA Tournament just got through the first weekend of play, the transfer portal in College Basketball has officially opened. While it seems strange that it doesn’t wait to open until after the season comes to an end, this is also a good opportunity for Jake Diebler and the Ohio State basketball team to get a head start on attacking the transfer portal.

We’ve already seen lots of players enter their names into the transfer portal, but there’s one in particular that Jake Diebler should target:

After spending two seasons at Xavier Dailyn Swain has entered the transfer portal, and Jake Diebler should waste no time in contacting the Columbus native.

After only averaging 4.6 points on 45.9% from the field, and 3 rebounds in 19 minutes a game in his freshman season, Swain made a huge leap in his sophomore season. This year his averages increased to 11 points at a 53.2% clip from the field, 5.5 rebounds, in a little over 28 minutes per game.

Swain is a terrific scorer, a long and athletic wing, and has the ability to guard positions 1-5. He is exactly the type of player the Ohio State basketball team needs with the versatility that he brings to the table. He also most recently put in a 27-point outing in Xavier’s loss to Illinois in the Round of 64.

Devin Royal is already working on trying to recruit Swain to come home to Columbus:

We now enter the second offseason of the Jake Diebler era, and after missing the NCAA Tournament it's paramount for him to build this roster to get back to playing meaningful basketball during this time of year. Landing Swain from the transfer portal would be a step in that direction.
