For the fourth time this transfer portal cycle, the Ohio State basketball team has landed a head-turning commitment. This time, it's former Baylor big man Joshua Ojianwuna, who just revealed his decision on Wednesday.
Last weekend, the 6-10 standout was in Columbus for an official visit and it didn't take him long to realize that Ohio State is exactly where he needs to be to continue his college career. Ojianwuna joins Brandon Noel, Christoph Tilly and Gabe Cupps as the other portal additions on the way for the 2025-26 roster.
4-star transfer Joshua Ojianwuna has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes
Boom! This really is a big recruiting win for head coach Jake Diebler, as Ojianwuna was ranked a 4-star transfer and the No. 32 center overall in the portal. He originally signed with Baylor as a member of the 2022 class over several other offers.
He did so ranked four stars and the No. 2 prospect overall from Australia. He was also the No. 158 prospect nationally. Ojianwuna was really coming on strong last season for Baylor, but he unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury and was sidelined for the rest of the campaign. It was no question a major bummer for him.
On the positive side of things, though, he's expected to be ready to rock for the Buckeyes once the season opens up next fall. Before he went down with his knee injury, Ojianwuna was averaging 7.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest. He started all 23 games for Baylor in 2024-25 before his injury.
This has been an incredibly busy offseason for the Buckeyes, but this latest recruiting win in landing Ojianwuna once again highlights the strong job the staff has done in improving the roster. After a disappointing campaign, the Buckeyes are now positioning themselves to make plenty of noise in 2025-26.
