Mark your calendars, Ohio State basketball fans. The Big Ten released the conference schedule on Wednesday, so now we officially have the full schedule for the 2026-27 Buckeye basketball season. Let's dive into the conference slate.

It'll be the typical 20-game Big Ten schedule with an even split of ten home games and ten games on the road for the Scarlet and Gray. They will play both home and away games against Michigan, Penn State, and Iowa.
The Buckeyes will jump out of non-conference play to begin Big Ten play on December 2nd on the road to take on Nebraska. Since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten in 2011, Ohio State basketball has an 8-4 record when it's visited Pinnacle Bank Arena.
However, three of the four losses have come in the last three trips to Lincoln dating back to 2023. This is expected to be a strong early test for the Buckeyes as Nebraska returns its first- and third-leading scorers from a team that finished second in the Big Ten and went to the Sweet 16 last season.
Ohio State then turns around for their home Big Ten opener on December 6th against Maryland. The Terrapins finished 12-21 last season in Buzz Williams' first year in College Park. But after a strong offseason in the transfer portal for Maryland, it sets up for a very intriguing start to December and Big Ten play for the Buckeyes.
After they wrap up non-conference play, the Buckeyes will resume Big Ten play with a home matchup against Oregon on December 30th. And then the start of a loaded January.
Jake Diebler's team will start 2027 in Iowa on January 2nd, then return home to take on Northwestern at the Schott on January 6th. Next, a stretch with back-to-back road games at Illinois and at Purdue, then return with three straight home games taking on Penn State, Michigan State, and the return game against Iowa, and then finish the month at Michigan on January 30th. If the Buckeye basketball team can survive this stretch from the middle to the end of January, they should be in a good position before the closing stretch of the regular season.
There was speculation on when the West Coast trip would be, but it's now locked in that it will come towards the end of February. Last season, Ohio State visited the northwest part of the country to meet Oregon and Washington. This season, they will go back to Southern California and play UCLA on February 17th, followed by USC on February 20th. Two teams that made roster moves this offseason to potentially be in a position to contend in the Big Ten, so that trip could give the Buckeyes a challenge.
Ohio State will finish the season at home against Rutgers on February 25th, with back-to-back road games at Indiana on February 28th and at Minnesota to begin the month of March. Lastly, putting a bow on the regular season at home in the return game against rival Michigan on March 7th.
The Big Ten schedule shows once again that there are no off nights in January and February. Jake Diebler has been saying this is why they're playing a tougher non-conference schedule to help prepare them for conference play. He has always said the Big Ten is "the best league in the sport", and this schedule for Ohio State should continue to push that.
