Ohio State started a ten-game home stand last week, and they led it off with a visit from the Akron Zips. Akron was 13-26 coming into this game, so it’s only fitting that the Buckeyes walloped them from the beginning. Ohio State jumped out to a 6-0 lead that, by the end of the sixth inning, was 9-1. The Buckeyes would go on to win 11-5.

The game against Toledo unfortunately went in the other direction on Wednesday. The Rockets came into the game 16-23 so the Buckeyes were hoping for a repeat from their game against Akron. They jumped out to 5-0 lead after the first two innings, but it was all Toledo after that. Toledo would outscore Ohio State 11-1 the rest of the game and get the 11-6 win.

Friday’s game against Rutgers would be more of the same for the Buckeyes in Big Ten play. Rutgers got a 4-0 lead after two, and Ohio State would cut it to 4-2 after the third inning. It was the Scarlet Knights after that, though, as they would outscore Ohio State 13-2 the rest of the game for the 17-4 win in eight innings.

After Friday’s game, it looked like Ohio State faced another sweep in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes would stop that trend on Saturday. The game was tied 6-6 heading into the bottom of the fourth for Ohio State. The Buckeyes would get four runs to make it 10-6 and never look back. They would cruise to a 16-8 win, their first Big Ten win since March 29th, and only their third conference win of the year.

The series finale against Rutgers was on Sunday afternoon. The Bucks had a chance to win only their second Big Ten series (and third total) of the season. Again, Ohio State took an early lead. The Buckeyes led 4-2 after the first two innings, but again, that was all she wrote for Ohio State. Rutgers would dominate the rest of the game, outscoring Ohio State 11-1 down the stretch, and winning 13-5.

Ohio State has games against teams from up north this week. They take on CMU out of the MAC on Tuesday before hosting ttun for another home Big Ten series this weekend. The team from Ann Arbor is 26-17 this year, and the Bucks will once again be trying to win their second Big Ten series of this rocky 2025 season. Ohio State is 11-30.
