Back in late June, top tight end prospect Mack Sutter committed to Alabama over offers from Ohio State, Illinois, Ole Miss and other programs. But Ohio State isn't ready to just let the 4-star recruit from Dunlap, Illinois head south without a fight.

Ryan Day and the Buckeyes staff are starting to put the press on Sutter in hopes of convincing the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder to reconsider Ohio State.

Sutter has taken official visits to all four of his top schools and committed to Alabama less than a week after he took his trip to Tuscaloosa on June 20. The top-100 national prospect took his official visit to Ohio State on May 30 and the word coming out of that visit was that the Buckeyes had made up some ground with the Crimson Tide, but it wasn't enough for them to be considered the leaders in his recruitment.

The big thing for the Buckeyes is going to be getting Sutter back on campus for a game, and it's uncertain if that will happen. Ohio State will also have to do more work in building the relationship with Sutter. When he committed, he spoke highly about his relationship with Alabama tight end coach Bryan Ellis.

"I am really close with the Alabama staff, and they show me that I'm a top priority every day," Sutter told Brett Greenberg from247Sports then. "I like how coach Ellis believes in me and sees me as a big priority to his room. The position is unique there because (Alabama) seems to always have a great wideout, but they have been involving tight ends more (too). I love how (head) coach (Kalen) DeBoer, is a really down-to-earth guy and is from the Midwest as well."

Ohio State currently has the No. 9-rated recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports. The Buckeyes have one tight end currently committed — 3-star prospect Cade Fordham from Jacksonville, Florida.
