Over the last few years, the powers that be have tried to get a hold on the college football calendar. In 2024, the Ohio State football team had to deal with players leaving in the Transfer Portal while they were in the middle of a run to win the national championship.

Change has been constant in college football. There is no longer a spring transfer window. There is just one now. NIL has changed the rules for how players are compensated. The Buckeyes are trying to make sure they keep up with all of the rule changes.

Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork thinks there needs to be more change. He believes that the college football calendar is still messed up. He wants change, and it's something that several other athletic directors have called for, as well.

While speaking in an interview with Eleven Warriors, Bjork made it clear that he wants some changes made.

"We should play the games in this period, and we should build the roster during this period. Right now, we co-mingle those on top of each other, and no other industry, no other sport, does that...it's way too disruptive. I don't care if you're in the Playoff or not."

Bjork is pretty clear that he wants things to be settled in a new way from now on. The Transfer Portal period happening while the end of the year is occurring, doesn't seem to be sustainable. It actually hurts CFP participants. The Ohio State Buckeyes have seen that firsthand.

The Buckeyes have tried to navigate the current calendar the best that they can, but it's not easy. This isn't just an Ohio State problem. This is one of several problems that college football faces moving forward. Eligibility fights are a big deal that need to be fixed, as does NIL and tampering that goes on.

Yet, Ohio State still has a great shot to win a national title next year in the face of all of these issues.
