The Ohio State football program spends a lot of money every single year. They spend it on NIL money for players, stadium renovations, and facility renovations. The money that the Buckeyes make every year on football also helps fund some of the non-revenue-generating sports.
Over the years, Ohio Stadium has gone through some renovations to reduce capacity. Getting rid of those seats was to add luxury boxes. Before last season, Ross Bjork announced that the band was going to move to the North stands to make way for more luxury seating in the South end zone.
Now, the stadium is going to go through yet another major renovation. At this point, it's unclear how these new renovations will affect seating in the stadium. The North side of the stadium will be getting a new scoreboard heading into next season. In 2027, the South End will get a new one, as well.
The Ohio State football team will be getting new scoreboards for Ohio Stadium
The Ohio State Buckeyes will be getting a bigger scoreboard on the north end of the stadium. It will be renovated for the first time since it was put in the stadium in 2009. It will cost around $6.5 million to do and should be done before the start of the 2026 season.
In 2027, the Buckeyes will renovate the South scoreboard. That was last renovated in 2012. That will have a $22 million price tag and should be taken care of before the start of the 2027 season. While the South scoreboard is still in great shape and is plenty big, the one in the North stands could use some work.
Ohio State is hoping that the new renovations will help fans have a better time watching the Buckeyes play over the next couple of seasons. The Buckeyes are hoping they can compete for another national championship next season. That would bring in more money for the program, more money for more renovations.
