The Ohio State football program is feeling great after landing the number-one recruit in the class of 2027. DJ Jacobs committed to the Buckeyes over Miami, Texas A&M, and Georgia. Ohio State was considered an underdog to land him, and they surprisingly were able to get a commitment.

Landing him a couple of days before the Ohio State Buckeyes take on Miami in the Cotton Bowl is extra sweet. Still, Signing Day for 2027 is a year away. As everyone knows, with recruiting, things can change in an instant, especially with so much time until he can sign his LOI.

In fact, it looks like Jacobs might already be giving himself some outs. In a quote given right after he decided to commit to the Buckeyes, Jacobs already asserted that he will be making other official visits and isn't ruling anything out in the future.

Here is the full quote.

"I will still take some official visits. I committed to Ohio State over Miami and Texas A&M. Those schools, Georgia, and maybe one or two more will probably get official visits. Recruiting is never over, so we'll see who really wants me and who will fight for me. Miami is a great school, and I feel very valued by them."

It seems like Jacobs is already using the Buckeyes for leverage to drive up the NIL price he can get from other schools. The Buckeyes opened up the checkbook to bring him in, but it might not be enough. If they want to keep him, they are going to have to be in constant contact with him.

Ohio State will stay focused on trying to win back-to-back national championships before it worries about Jacobs' continued recruitment. That is the most important goal for the coaching staff, so Jacobs will be put on the back burner until this season is officially over.
