New list criminally underrates two Ohio State quarterbacks

A new list from The Athletic has criminally underrated two Ohio State quarterbacks and their careers.

The Ohio State football program has had a lot of really good quarterbacks to play for them since 2000. They've had a handful of guys come in as five-star recruits and really play well for the Buckeyes. A couple didn't quite live up to the billing, but plenty of them did.

The Athletic put together a list ranking every single five-star quarterback who has finished his career since 2000. Ohio State had six quarterbacks on the list. A few of them were properly rated, but two of them were criminally underrated on the list that they put together.

On the list, the highest-rated QB was Justin Fields. He obviously started his collegiate career at Georgia before playing two great years with the Buckeyes. He was rated ninth, which is appropriate. The next two OSU quarterbacks were too low, though.

Terrelle Pryor and Braxton Miller are the next two five-star QBs on the list. Pryor was ranked 14th, and Miller was ranked 16th. The issue with the list is who they have ahead of those players. Both JJ McCarthy and Chris Leak were ahead of both quarterbacks.

Miller led the Buckeyes when they didn't have any good offensive players in 2012 and helped them go undefeated. Had Gene Smith not accepted a ridiculous bowl ban, they would have played for a national championship that season, and likely would have beaten Notre Dame.

Pryor was very good but didn't get to show the full complement of his talents because of Jim Tressel's offensive system. It was not very quarterback-friendly, which hurt his passing stats. His rushing stats were fantastic. He should be higher than both Leak and McCarthy, too.

There's no issue with where the other OSU quarterbacks land on this list. Quinn Ewers was 21st, spending just one season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Kyle McCord is 31st, mainly because he threw for a ton of yards this year at Syracuse.

Justin Zwick was ranked 55, which makes sense. He lost his job to Troy Smith, who eventually won the Heisman Trophy.
