When the Ohio State football team won the 2024 national championship, it was partially because of its ability to run the ball. While they were more known for being able to throw the ball around to Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka, the two running backs helped them win it all.
TreVeyon Henderson was the starting running back on that team. He used that to propel himself into being a second-round pick by the New England Patriots. In his rookie season, he was able to make the Super Bowl and play for a championship for his second title in a row.
Henderson lost that game to the Seahawks. Since then, the offseason has been interesting for Henderson. Right now, he is under fire for a post on social media he made responding to former Bulls player Jaden Ivey. New England head coach, also a former player for the Ohio State Buckeyes, had to address it.
Mike Vrable addresses viral post from former Buckeye TreVeyon Henderson
Vrabel was asked about the post while he was attending the NFL owners' meetings. It didn't seem like Vrabel had any notion of what was going on with Ivey, but he had some strong comments about how players need to act on his team.
"I think there is a fine line. I love TreVeyon. I love the person. He cares deeply about our team. He cares deeply about his faith. He cares deeply about his family, his wife, the people in our building. And so, I want them to be able to express what they believe in their heart and their mind, but also I also wanna make sure that they’re educated. We want to be inclusive."
In his rookie season, Henderson ran the ball 180 times for 911 yards and nine touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown.
