The Ohio State football team hasn't been able to land the number of defensive line recruits that they were hoping for so far in the class of 2026. They haven't been able to land a few four and five-star recruits that they have been pursuing. Larry Johnson has been under the gun.

Ohio State has a chance to land another defensive line recruit, which they obviously need since they haven't been able to land some of the other recruits on their board. Adding as many defensive linemen as they can should be the goal for them in this recruiting class.

Deuce Geralds is the recruit that the Buckeyes are hoping to be able to land. He is a four-star defensive line recruit from Collins Hill High School out of Georgia. He has finally set a commitment date, and he is making the Ohio State Buckeyes wait a little longer to see if they can get him.

Four-star DL Deuce Geralds sets a commitment date for the beginning of August

Geralds has announced that he will be making his collegiate announcement on August 2nd. That means that the Buckeyes have three more weeks to make a strong enough impression to bring him in. They have to figure out what they can do to make him want to be in Columbus.

The other programs Ohio State is competing against are Ole Miss, LSU, and TTUN. TTUN already beat the Buckeyes for one DL recruit, so losing another to them would sting. Johnson also needs a win on the recruiting trail after having a rough 2026 recruiting cycle.

It still seems that the Buckeyes are staying very strict with the NIL plan that they have laid out for themselves this Fall. They will not spend an enormous amount of money on a recruit. Instead, they have focused on keeping the guys that they currently have on the roster.

Right now, Ohio State has the sixth-best recruiting class in the country. They no longer have the most five-star recruits in the country, either. If TTUN wins this recruitment for Geralds, they will leap past the Buckeyes in the rankings, as well.
