The Ohio State football program has a new wide receivers head coach heading into next season. With Brian Hartline now at USF as the head coach, the Buckeyes had to bring in someone to replace him with the receivers. Cortez Hankton was the man that Ryan Day decided on.

Hankton was previously at LSU before he came to Columbus. He brought a receiver from LSU with him once he hit the Transfer Portal, as well. The Ohio State Buckeyes believe that they have a good coach to take over Hartline's duties, although Hartline is one of the best recruiters in the country.

A couple of former receivers that Hankton coached at LSU told Buckeye fans what to expect from Hankton. Receivers Aaron Anderson and Chris Hilton are both at the NFL Combine. Both of them explained what Hankton brings to the table and why Ohio State fans should be excited.

Anderson was first and explained what Hankton's coaching philosophy is like.

"He's a hard coach. A good guy, for sure. His coaching style reminds me of the coaches I had in high school. Hard coaching, never lets up. He’s not going to let up; even if you understand what's going on, he's still going to be hard on you. And he's going to give his 100% on and off the field. He’s always going to be there.”

Hilton echoed a lot of what Anderson said.

“Really just an all-around good guy, fun guy to be around, and it’s bigger than football with him. So he wants you to be successful not only on the field but off the field. Understanding the fine details of stuff. Like, being in his room, I've been more of the guy to ask questions like 'I understand the route structure, but what's the quarterback's read?', and stuff like that."

That sounds like the Ohio State Buckeyes will like Hankton once he gets his hands on these receivers. Hartline was a similar type of coach with the Buckeyes. He was also someone who coached the receivers hard.

Jeremiah Smith is the best player that Ohio State has on the roster, so Hankton will try to make him the best player in the country. Of course, that all depends on the plays that Arthur Smith decides to call. He will be tasked with scheming up plays for Smith.
