It has been a rough start to the Transfer Portal window for the Ohio State football program. They usually don't lose too many guys in the portal because of the culture they have built. That has not been the case in 2026. They have lost almost two dozen players so far.
To make matters worse, the Ohio State Buckeyes haven't been able to refill those numbers. Even though they have one of the largest recruiting classes in school history, there are some concerns at certain positions, including receiver. This is the first time in almost a decade that the receiver position has concerns.
With Brian Hartline now in South Florida, three receivers have hit the portal. While they are hoping to possibly get one of those guys back, they still have concerns. Luckily for them, a senior receiver has decided that he will be back for his final season with the Buckeyes.
Brandon Inniss announces his return to the Ohio State football program
Brandon Inniss, a team captain this past season, has announced that he will return for the 2026 season. Inniss is one of the players who has a shot to wear the Block O next season now that he has returned. He is a great locker room presence and someone well-respected in the locker room.
Inniss is still a solid receiver on the field, even if he didn't get many opportunities to catch the ball this season with Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate on the outside. With Tate now gone and unproven depth behind him, Inniss has the opportunity to put up some good numbers next season.
Keeping another familiar face for Julian Sayin heading into next season is key for the offense. Now, they have to hope that Chris Henry Jr. and Jerquaden Guilford are ready to go as true freshmen. They suddenly have the opportunity to see a lot of snaps next season.
Ohio State would still do well to grab at least one more receiver from the portal.
