The Ohio State football program has been sniffing around the transfer portal on both the offensive and defensive lines. They need depth in the trenches. They were able to add Beau Atkinson out of North Carolina to help the defensive end position, which was a position of need.

On the offensive line, the Buckeyes grabbed two players in the transfer portal at the end of the 2024 season. That hasn't stopped them from looking around for guys in the Spring portal. In fact, they were able to find someone in the portal just a day after the portal closed.

West Virginia offensive lineman Justin Terry has decided to transfer back to his home state and play for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Terry is from Pickerington and played at Pickerington Central in high school, so now he comes home with four years of eligibility left.

Justin Terry provides much-needed depth for the Ohio State football team

For years, the Buckeyes haven't had the proper depth on the offensive line because of poor recruiting by Justin Frye. Even though he showed that he can clearly develop guys, he just didn't have enough offensive linemen on the roster. Terry helps change that.

Terry didn't play as a freshman for the Mountaineers and was just a three-star prospect out of high school, but he gives the Buckeyes more bodies. At this point, that is all they are looking for in the transfer portal. That's part of the reason why they already have as many offensive line commits for the 2026 class.

Terry likely won't play this year for the Buckeyes, but he's a home-grown kid who can help in the case of an emergency. Perhaps he can develop into a solid player a few years down the line, but he's a depth piece for this season.
