The Ohio State football team deserves respect as the defending national champions. They are a team that went on the greatest run in college football history during the four-game run to the title. While they lost a lot of talent, they also bring back the best offensive and defensive players in the country.
Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs make the Ohio State Buckeyes one of the best teams in the country. They should be viewed as a top-two team in the preseason polls because of those two and the other talent that surrounds them. Offensively, they should still be a great force.
Joel Klatt is an unabashed Big Ten homer. FOX's lead game analyst talks up the Big Ten every chance that he gets, even when he's not announcing games. He normally loves the Buckeyes. Even so, his preseason top 25 should make Ohio State fans angry.
Joel Klatt doesn't show proper respect to the Ohio State football team
Klatt doesn't even have Ohio State as the highest-ranked Big Ten team in his preseason top 25. He has Penn State as the number-one team in the country.

Penn State wasn't able to beat Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes tore through that same Notre Dame team in the National Championship Game. Ohio State beat Penn State in Happy Valley as well, so this ranking doesn't make a ton of sense.
The Nittany Lions do bring back to of the best running backs in the country as well as starting quarterback Drew Allar, but they still don't have any receivers to throw the ball to. The jury is still out on Allar on whether he can be an elite quarterback in college football, too.
No one knows how well Julian Sayin will play in his first year as a starter. He is the presumed starter once the Fall rolls around, but he still has a lot to prove. He's a former five-star recruit, so he should be able to acclimate himself well. That's especially true with the stable of receivers he has at his disposal, including the best tight end in the country.
