FOX Sports' Joel Klatt was honest about college football's pecking order following a Week 11 slate that saw the top three teams remain undefeated. As Klatt has been consistent about, there are levels of completeness in the sport.
Klatt shared an updated outlook of No. 1 through No. 3, and while he seems to be willing to fold on the Indiana Hoosiers being No. 3 behind the SEC's TAMU Aggies, Klatt is sure that the Ohio State Buckeyes are No. 1.
As any keen observer has noticed this year about the Buckeyes, who are undefeated with one push at the spread this year, the offense is dominant with Julian Sayin throwing darts to Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, and Matt Patricia's defense, led by linebackers Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles, has not given up 20 points in a game yet.
“What can’t go either way is Ohio State at one. That is the clear best team in the country," Klatt said on his podcast.
“Jeremiah Smith, by the way, last two games, 16 targets, 16 catches, 260 yards, three touchdowns. guy is insane. That’s without even [Carnell] Tate on the other side.
“That defense is suffocating. They are toying with people right now. Their players are different. When you watch Ohio State, that’s different.”
Indiana falling behind Ohio State after unimpressive Penn State win
IU is losing darling status a bit after barely beating the Penn State Nittany Lions 27-24, needing late heroics from Hoosiers QB Fernando Mendoza and WRs Charlie Becker and Omar Cooper Jr. in the final minute to stun Beaver Stadium.
Certainly, Indiana slipped behind the Buckeyes, who continue to handle business in dominant fashion. Ohio State didn't beat the Boilermakers by four touchdowns, which was a letdown to some. The Hoosiers almost left Happy Valley with one of the most egregious upsets of the season.
Levels. Just like Klatt mentioned. IU is on TAMU's now, but OSU is running away with objects in the rearview looking increasingly out of reach.
