With the 2026 regular season almost here, Jeremiah Smith and Ohio State are ready to push for a national title. For Smith, he also wants another win against Michigan, but he also wouldn't mind if another date with Miami arrives in the College Football Playoff next winter. Wait, that's already on his mind?

You bet. While speaking at Big Ten Media Days, Smith was asked about which team he'd hope to get some 'revenge' on before he says goodbye to the college ranks. The All-American wideout didn't hesitate in bringing up the Canes. Sure, Indiana beating Ohio State for the Big Ten title could have had the Hoosiers at the top of his list, but things are personal here for Smith with The U.

"Gotta be the hometown team, Miami," Smith said when deciding between the Hoosiers and Canes. "Gotta be. I heard it a lot when I went back home. Gotta be Miami."

Smith saying this with a smile and a chuckle is pretty funny, but you know that loss has to eat up at him a bit. Especially since he revealed that whenever he goes back to Miami to visit family and friends, he's quickly reminded of Corey Hetherman's defense putting on a show in the stunning upset of the Buckeyes last winter.

And you know what, this shows a side of Smith that people probably aren't used to. Let's be real for a second, this kid has it all. He's inarguably the best wide receiver in college football, and he's a lock to be a Top 5 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. He has every right to be arrogant, but he doesn't showcase that too often.

With that, he's also incredibly competitive and hates losing. While having so many reasons to smile each day, losing to the Canes still has him upset, and he's surely not the only one. Smith helped Ohio State win the natty during his true freshman season, and it looked like the stars were aligning for OSU to go back-to-back.

Instead, the deflating loss to Indiana in the Big Ten title game was posted, and then not long after, the brutal loss to Miami also took center stage. Despite that, Smith still has one last chance to win another national title with Ohio State, which would no question help end his career in Columbus the right way.

Sure, Smith could return in 2027 if he wanted to, but he has made it more than clear that this will be his last dance of sorts with Ohio State. He's got some extra pep in his step too, and Smith showing this personal side of his in wanting revenge will only help him play even more motivated this fall. Should Ohio State and Miami dance again, Smith will make sure he gives people something to talk about, but not in the way some of the local haters in South Florida are gloating about right now.
