There have been very few Ohio State football players who have won a Heisman Trophy. In fact, the Buckeyes have just seven in their storied history. Archie Griffin remains the only player in college football history to win the award twice, as well. Jeremiah Smith is hoping to become the eighth winner.
Smith is considered the best player in college football heading into the season. He knows what it takes to be an all-time great. By the time he is done this year, he'll likely hold every major receiving record. He thinks one teammate has the talent to be a future Heisman winner.
Jeremiah Smith thinks Legend Bey can win the Heisman Trophy
Legend Bey has been getting a lot of hype this season as a freshman. He had a slow start, but his teammates clearly see that he has talent. Smith thinks he will at least be a Heisman Finalist, and could eventually win the most prestigious award in college football someday.

"I think I said this back in the Spring. I think I said this to Luke Montgomery. I said before Legend Bey leaves Ohio State, he'll be a Heisman Finalist or he'll end up winning it. The things he's been doing in practice have been pretty special, for sure."
For Smith to say that, Bey must be doing some incredible things on the practice field. Unfortunately, fans weren't able to see what he could do during the Spring Game. They are still waiting to see him play an actual game for the Buckeyes. Still, Smith thinks he's an incredible talent.
Bey is a high school quarterback who was recruited as a running back. However, he is so athletic that they are using him as an all-purpose type of player. They want to get the ball in his hands and let him do his thing. He will likely be seeing the field quite a bit as a freshman.
Ohio State is glad they got Legend Bey from Tennessee
Bey was part of one of the stranger recruiting stories in recent memory. He wanted to go to Ohio State, but his family made him go to Tennessee. In fact, they wouldn't sign his Letter of Intent without him picking the Vols. However, he made it very clear that's not where he wanted to be.
Tennessee quickly let him out of his letter, and Bey entered the Transfer Portal to pick the Ohio State Buckeyes. Now that he's in Columbus, it seems he's very happy that he made this choice. He seems to be impressing both the players and the coaches at almost every practice.
The Buckeyes will likely only use him early on against the non-ranked foes they will face. They will probably ease him into the offense. After all, they need to get the ball to Smith as much as possible. Ohio State is going to be very good offensively, so they don't need Bey to be great now. However, it sounds like greatness is what they are going to get down the road.
