The Ohio State basketball team didn't have a very robust 2025 recruiting class. It was a class of just two players as of last weekend. It was a class that had two talented players, but it wasn't a highly-rated class. Still, the Buckeyes were excited with what they had.

All of a sudden, the Ohio State Buckeyes lost a member of that class very late in the game. Dorian Jones, a shooting guard from Cleveland, suddenly announced he will not be enrolling at Ohio State. It seems that he is having some eligibility issues, at least that's what seems to be the issue.

Jake Diebler was staring at a recruiting class now of just one. They are low on roster spots as it is, so losing another player would have been a disaster. Instead, Diebler did the best he could out of a bad situation by adding Myles Herro to the class on Monday.

The Ohio State basketball team now has a two-player recruiting class for 2025

Herro is just a three-star recruit as a guard, so he's certainly not the most talented player they could have brought in. That's about what is expected at this stage in recruiting. Most players have already enrolled in school for the upcoming year. Adding Herro is about the best he could do.

Diebler was put in a bad spot, and he did the best he could. He deserves some credit for even finding someone from the 2025 recruiting class to add. Herro has some good genes, considering his brother plays for the Miami Heat. He is someone the Buckeyes are hoping can develop into a good player.

To be fair, Diebler could have built the class to have more recruits in it prior to this problem. That would have been the most ideal outcome. But since he didn't do that, he deserves some credit for being able to scramble.
