The Ohio State football program decided to promote Ryan Day after Urban Meyer retired following the 2018 season. Meyer left the program due to health issues with the migraine headaches that he was plagued with throughout the season. Promoting Day was the decision that was made to keep continuity going on the staff.

Day hasn't let the program fall since Meyer left. He has led some very good teams for the Ohio State Buckeyes, including a national championship. Obviously, he still has to get past the Michigan thing, but the Buckeyes look like that issue should be taken care of this year.

Day has mostly gotten past the critics after winning the national championship last year. There is an incredible stat that popped up during the Ohio State vs. Illinois game that illustrates just how good Day has been since taking over as head coach back in the 2019 season.

During the game, a stat popped up that the Buckeyes have been in the AP top 10 in 99 percent of the games he has coached, which is the highest percentage of any team in the country. In 84 of the 85 games Day has coached, Ohio State has been in the top 10.

The next highest percentage for a coach is 84 percent, which is held by Tom Osborne. This insane stat shows that the Buckeyes are recession-proof and never go through a downturn. It also shows how well Day has been able to keep things going after Meyer left.

That stat won't be changing anytime soon. The Buckeyes look like they are better than the team that won the national title last year and are one of the 11 remaining undefeated teams left in college football. It doesn't look like they will be falling outside the top 10 anytime soon.
