FSU fans are desperately happy after a recruiting win over Ohio State for 4-star

The Florida State Seminoles landed 4-star Baton Rouge Catholic running back Jayden Miles on Monday, outdueling Lane Kiffin's LSU Tigers but, more impressively, overcoming the Ohio State Buckeyes in their pursuit.

And, you know, good for FSU. From the sounds of the fanbase's reaction to nabbing Miles, it was more necessary in Tallahassee -- where hope isn't exactly easy to come by these days. Mike Norvell is heading into a decisive year that could define his future. The Seminoles lost play-caller Gus Malzahn to retirement right after FSU completed its transfer portal transformation. If the defense doesn't take a step forward under Tony White in year two, it's tough to imagine this regime continuing.

"Miles officially visited Florida State during the first official visit weekend on May 29th. Fans didn't know what to expect from the running back since he didn't take a trip during the spring. ... The concerning part was that he was officially visiting Ohio State after. Plus, LSU was in his backyard, so the Tigers could have come calling at any time. I cannot express how big it was to still see Florida State compete with the likes of both of those schools, especially the Buckeyes, since they don't have a running back prospect in their class yet," Chop Chat's Taylor Devers wrote.

"It isn't often that we see Mike Norvell shove both Lane Kiffin and Ryan Day in a locker for a recruit, but fans hope that it leads to more wins on the gridiron." Good win for the Noles, no doubt. It's not cut and dry in the slightest that Ryan Day was stuffed in a locker.

In truth, the Buckeyes are eyeing a bigger fish.

Ohio State is much hotter on David Gabriel Georges' trail

Someone has to have the heart to tell Tomahawk Nation that David Gabriel Georges is the running back recruit in the 2027 high school class that Ohio State covets the most. While it was absolutely a loss that Miles chose a different non-LSU school, it would be a bigger loss to not land DGG.

Gabriel Georges is projected to be a franchise running back one day. He's dominating in the Volunteer State, and it'll be the Tennessee Volunteers who'll pose the biggest threat on the recruiting trail. Interestingly enough, it's from within that the Vols' biggest push comes. Tennessee announced a massive $130 million donation from the Haslam family, who, of course, own the Cleveland Browns. It'd be an intra-Ohio bidding war for the Chattanooga native.

If the Buckeyes win the Gabriel Georges sweepstakes, you know there is unrivaled motion from the Ohio State University from a rev-share perspective. Tennessee has a lot of pressure not to let the Buckeyes get away with that one.

In truth, Gabriel Georges has the interest from Ohio State that FSU wishes Miles had. That doesn't mean Miles won't be great, and it certainly doesn't mean DGG is guaranteed to have a better career than Miles.

It just means that there are more pressing issues for the Buckeyes right now after Miles' decision to be a Nole.
