The Ohio State football team has done a much better job of landing some defensive linemen in the last week or so. After having a slow start to recruiting up front, they have turned things around. The Buckeyes did lose out on a five-star recruit on Sunday afternoon.
Despite that loss, they are hoping to bounce back with a recruiting win. On Monday, one of their recruiting targets is set to make his collegiate announcement. He is choosing between the Buckeyes, Ole Miss, and Washington. That is four-star edge player Landon Barnes.
Barnes is someone that the Ohio State Buckeyes have made a late push for. In fact, he made a visit to Columbus just last weekend. That is the last visit that he made before deciding to announce on Monday. That should give the Buckeyes the inside edge for him.
Four-star Ohio State football recruiting target is projected to commit to the Buckeyes on Monday
According to ON3's Steve Wiltfong, Barnes is getting set to commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday. He has given a crystal ball prediction to the Ohio State football program. Adding him to the class would help Larry Johnson's perception with Buckeye fans.
If Barnes does commit, the Buckeyes would have their 2026 recruiting class up to 20 commitments with still plenty of time to add recruits. Ohio State still has a few five-star recruits on their board that they are hoping to be able to persuade into making a commitment.
Matt Patricia has done a surprisingly good job on the recruiting trail since taking over the defensive coordinator position in the offseason. He has been much more active than Jim Knowles was on the recruiting trail, which has helped them land some great defensive recruits thus far.
The Buckeyes are hoping that Patricia can help them land one more good defensive recruit.
