The Ohio State football program is trying to finish strong when it comes to the 2026 recruiting class. Unfortunately, they have had a little bit of trouble when it comes to closing out recruits. It has been a while since they have been able to land a commitment.

They were trying to land another four-star star recruit on Friday night. This time, it was an offensive line recruit. J.B. Shabazz, a four-star tackle recruit, had the Buckeyes as one of his final schools. Tyler Bowen was hoping to be able to land him, but they weren't able to do it.

Shabazz ended up choosing the University of Tennessee for his college instead of the Ohio State Buckeyes. That is fine on its own. However, Shabazz did something that was pretty disrespectful to the coaches who recruited him and invested time and effort into him.

During his decision, he faked out multiple schools. Shabazz picked up a hat from South Carolina, acted like he was going to put it on, and put it down. Then he did the same thing with an Ohio State hat before ultimately putting on a Tennessee hat and making that his school of choice.

Recruits have started to do this thing where they act like they are putting on a hat from one school, and that will be their decision before ultimately putting on the correct hat. It's their version of having fun, but really, it's just disrespecting the other schools who are hoping to get him.

Bowen certainly would have enjoyed landing Shabazz, but the offensive line has done a good job of restoring some of its depth this recruiting cycle. They are still trying to bring in one more offensive line recruit for this cycle, which would be the ideal scenario for them.

There are still some offensive linemen that they have left on their board. Bowen and Ryan Day still think that they can have a chance at a couple of other guys, high on their list.
