Entries into the transfer portal are going to ramp up starting today. Today is the day that the transfer portal officially opens. The Ohio State football program has already lost a few players to the portal. That's to be expected, and Ryan Day even mentioned he's expecting to lose 15% of his roster to the portal.

As some players are finding out, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Some former Ohio State Buckeyes are entering the portal multiple times. They can't seem to find a place that will give them the playing time that they want to see. That includes a former Buckeye running back.

After last season, the Buckeyes lost three running backs to the transfer portal. That really put their depth in a bind. Luckily, they were able to get Quinshon Judkins from the portal to help with that. One of those running backs is now entering the portal for the third time.

Chip Trayanum transferred to Ohio State from Arizona State in 2022 as a linebacker. Then, the Buckeyes had a rash of injuries at running back, so he moved back to running back. He spent two years with the Buckeyes before transferring to Kentucky before this season.

Trayanum will now be entering the portal again. He will be entering his sixth year of college, so he likely will need a waiver to play another season. Trayanum carried the ball just 19 times while with the Wildcats. He likely would have gotten more carries had he stayed with the Buckeyes.

At this point, Trayanum is probably going to end up at a Mountain West school or some similar equivalent. I think his days as a Power 4 back are done. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
