The Ohio State football team had a few players decide to put on an Ohio State helmet one more time at the Senior Bowl. All of them were looking to impress scouts and improve their draft stock. It ended up being quite a gross game to watch, as it was a 17-9 final.
One player who got an invite is offensive lineman Ethan Onianwa. Onianwa getting a Senior Bowl invite was surprising, especially because of how poorly he played this season. Quite frankly, he ended up only being a third-stringer, and he was a third-string guard instead of a tackle, which is where he was expected to play.
In the end, Onianwa pretty much ended up being a giant waste of money in his one season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite his hopes that his week at the Senior Bowl was going to be better, it wasn't. In fact, his stock somehow went down after participating in practice.
Ohio State football player has his stock fall during the Senior Bowl
Onianwa didn't have a great week at the Senior Bowl. After a good first day, he didn't do much after that. He was already a borderline draft prospect after riding the pine with the Ohio State Buckeyes this season. He didn't do much to help himself after that.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes could have as many as five players drafted in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Davison Igbinosun played well at the Senior Bowl and should test well at the NFL Combine, so he might have a shot to slide into the late first round when it's all said and done.
Onianwa is by far the biggest miss that Ryan Day has had in the Transfer Portal. He is trying to make sure that he doesn't make a similar mistake by paying a lot of money to someone who won't even be a starter for them.
