During the 2024 season, Will Howard was a big reason why the Ohio State football team won the national championship. Without Howard transferring in from Kansas State, it would have been incredibly tough for the Buckeyes to have the same level of success.

Howard isn't the most physically impressive quarterback that the Ohio State Buckeyes have had in the last few years, but his ability to rise to the occasion is something that none of the other quarterbacks before him had. He threw for over 4,000 yards and 35 touchdowns in his lone season with the Buckeyes.

After winning it all with Ohio State, he was a sixth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately for him, he didn't get a chance to play in the preseason after breaking his hand in training camp. This year, he enters OTAs as QB 1 for the Steelers after a year of being the third-string quarterback.

Last season, the Steelers had Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback. He was only signed for one year and is once again contemplating retirement. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, there is still no timetable for Rodgers making a decision about his future.

Mason Rudolph was the backup at the start of the season for the Steelers, but Howard passed him on the depth chart. It seems unlikely that the Steelers will enter the season with Howard as the starter, but crazier things have happened. They could be ready to go through a rebuild with a new coach.

As anyone who watched Howard play for the Buckeyes in 2024, it would be dangerous to count him out. He is a solid quarterback who always seems to make the right decision. His receiving corps improved as well, as Pittsburgh traded for Michael Pittman Jr. in the offseason.

These reps during minicamp will certainly be important for Howard, even if Rodgers does decide to return to Pittsburgh. Those reps could go a long way to helping him improve in his young NFL career.
