The Ohio State football team has done a good job of adding offensive linemen in the 2026 recruiting class. Tyler Bowen understood that the Buckeyes had a depth problem up front from years of light recruiting classes, and Bowen has worked hard to correct that.
So far, the Ohio State Buckeyes don't have any blue-chip recruits at the offensive line spot. They have four offensive line recruits in the class already, but they are still hoping to add one big-time recruit. They are going heavily after Darius Gray, a five-star offensive lineman from Virginia.
Gray is listed as the second-best interior offensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class. Adding him would give Ohio State the first five-star offensive line recruit since they landed Paris Johnson Jr. Gray has officially announced his commitment date.y
Ohio State football recruiting target Darius Gray announces his commitment date
Gray will announce his commitment on August 22nd, giving the Buckeyes just under a month to woo him enough to want to play college football in Columbus. They have some steep competition, as he is also choosing between Clemons, LSU, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Standing at 6'3 and 285 pounds, Gray is a fantastic blocker in the run game and stout enough to play well in the passing game. He is quite the prospect, and the Buckeyes desperately want him. In a change of pace, the Buckeyes are pursuing a target that isn't predicted to pick another school.
At this point, no one knows exactly what Gray wants to do. Bowen has been doing a good job of bringing in solid recruits. Adding Gray would be the cherry on top of a very good offensive line class, which is the only position that is set up for Ohio State right now in the 2026 class.
It would be a great recruiting victory to land Gray at this stage for Ryan Day. Perhaps he has some tricks up his sleeve to finally land a blue-chip offensive lineman.
