Ex-Ohio State DC Jim Knowles must be kidding over his Penn State 'culture' comments

Does Jim Knowles know where he was working last season?

Former Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles thought the grass would be greener on the other side by taking the open position at Penn State. He will soon learn that is not going to be the case once the season starts up, but till then, apparently, he is going to take little digs at his former program.

When speaking about the culture at Penn State on the final day of Big Ten Media Days, Knowles decided to give a little dig at Ryan Day and the Buckeyes when talking about James Franklin.

"The thing I've found about here and the culture that Coach Franklin's developed is there are no egos, so you're not worried about what you say or hurting anyone's feelings," Knowles said.

Seems like Knowles is trying to talk about the Buckeyes and insinuating that Ohio State is full of guys with egos and that Day isn't building the right culture. Ohio State is the program that Knowles won the National Championship last season, and now he is going around making little comments about Ohio State? Seems laughable.

Now at Penn State, Knowles may find he wishes he were back at Ohio State because, last we checked, the Nittany Lions have not beaten the Buckeyes since 2016 and even this past season, when it was supposed to be Penn State's year, they choked under the pressure.

Knowles may want to be careful with the comments he makes about his former program because they may come back to haunt him later in the season. Knowles has been tasked with turning around a Penn State defense that has had its fair share of struggles, so maybe he should focus on that instead of the team he used to coach.
