The Ohio State football program is still trying to land some big-time recruits in the 2026 recruiting class. They currently have a top-three class in the country right now. While they missed out on the top overall recruit in the country, they still have a chance to land some other great recruits.

That includes a five-star recruit who just de-committed from USC. Linebacker Xavier Griffin just made his de-commitment public. Now, he has the Buckeyes as one of the final schools that he is considering, giving them a chance to land a dominant recruit.

Griffin is listed as the second-best linebacker in the country and is from Gainesville, Georgia. Even better than just having Ohio State as one of his final schools, Griffin has scheduled a visit to the Ohio State Buckeyes in just a couple of weeks.

Dominant linebacker recruit will visit the Ohio State football program

Griffin will visit over Memorial Day weekend, as that is the first of four visits that he has set up. He will also visit Alabama, Texas, and Florida State. The Buckeyes get the first chance to make an impression and gain his commitment, which would be great.

Right now, the Buckeyes have just one linebacker committed for the 2026 class. That's three-star linebacker CJ Sanna. Adding Griffin to the fold would add a true stud at that position in this class. James Laurinaitis has shown that he can recruit big-time prospects already.

Ohio State still has just 13 commitments for the 2026 class, so they only have about half of their class filled right now. They still have a lot of work to do over the summer to get a full class, which would be about 25 guys. They might even take more, depending on what happens with the House settlement.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are doing a great job of putting their best foot forward in this class. While they still need a quarterback for this class, they still have plenty of time to land one. Getting Griffin right before summer would give them a lot of momentum heading into camp season.
