A lot of Ohio State football fans want a coaching change. After how the Buckeyes have been performing against Michigan and in big games, more fans want Ryan Day fired. There is still a segment of the fanbase that wants to keep him, but that segment is shrinking by the day.
The College Football Playoff starts on Saturday and the Ohio State Buckeyes are hosting a first-round game against Tennessee. That game could ultimately decide what Day's job status is moving forward. A lot of fans, including myself, want Mike Vrabel to take over.
Momentum has been growing in that area to the point that a video from the Pat McAfee Show started getting Buckeye fans buzzing on social media. McAfee had Dan Orlovsky on and he was talking about Vrabel's future in coaching and it could indicate he is headed to Columbus.
New video might indicate Mike Vrabel might coach the Ohio State football program
Take a look at the video below and decide for yourself if Orlovsky is indicating that this is a possibility.
Ohio State football fans have a right to be excited about this. Orlovsky doesn't break news and isn't considered a reporter, so there should be some hesitation. But with how he is speaking about this subject, it seems like it's a real possibility that it could happen.
Of course, this is all contingent on what Day is able to do in the CFP. If he wins a national championship, the only way he wouldn't be back is if he decides to leave on his own. That's certainly a possibility, but he would seal up his job security for a few years by winning it all.
This should excite Ohio State fans who want Day gone. Ross Bjork's comments would seem to indicate the opposite of this, but we'll see how the game against Tennessee goes first. If the Buckeyes lose in a blowout, all options are on the table.
