Dabo Swinney touts Clemson's success over Ohio State, gets roasted for it

The Clemson head coach did not make much sense with his comments.

The Ohio State football program hasn't faced Clemson in quite a while. The last time these two teams faced off was during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. These two teams faced off in the Sugar Bowl, and the Buckeyes crushed the Tigers 42-28. That was the game that seemed to break Clemson.

That was the last time that Swinney's program had a real shot to win a national championship. However, you could have fooled Swinney. While appearing on Always College Football with Greg McElroy, Swinney touted his success over the Buckeyes in his career.

“We’re 3-1 against Ohio State. We’re 4-2 against Notre Dame. Notre Dame has their own TV station, make their own rules, they print their own money. They got a money machine in the backyard.”

It's a ridiculous comment that shows just how out of touch Swinney is with college football right now. He got clowned for his comments not only by fans, but Dan Patrick also took an issue with what he said.

On the Dan Patrick Show, Patrick crushed Swinney for making those comments.

“Guess who had nine players drafted this year? Fourth, most nationally, most in the ACC, and they (Clemson) went 7-6. So, let’s be fair; you had 9 players drafted, and you won 7 games. That has nothing to do with Notre Dame or Ohio State.”

If Clemson played the Ohio State Buckeyes this season, it would have no chance to win. The Tigers have lost 14 games in the last three years. Ohio State has never come close to having a season like that. The last time they had six or more losses in a year was the Luke Fickell-coached season of 2011.

Ohio State just came off an NFL Draft that saw four players be taken in the first round. When Swinney starts producing talent at that level, then he can start touting that record.
