At Ohio State, there is a tradition for every new player that enters the program, whether it is a recruit from high school or a transfer from another college. Every new player enters their first practices with a black stripe on their helmet and they have to work to get it removed. This was a tradition that was started under former head coach Urban Meyer and the stripe is meant to symbolize the player is on a probationary status.

The new players have to demonstrate commitment, hard work, and talent to get their stripe removed from their helmet and once they do that, they are then deemed a full Buckeye on the team. This is meant to shwo the player has completely earned their way onto the team and the latest player to do that is UNC transfer Beau Atkinson.

Atkinson came to Ohio State through the transfer portal this past offseason and and clearly he has earned the respect and trust of the coaching staff and teammates because he has quickly gotten his black stripe removed and is now a full-fledge member of the Buckeyes.

The rising senior spent his two seasons of colege football at UNC and in those two years compiled 54 total tackles, 35 solo tackles, 11 sacks, and one forced fumble. Now, Atkinson is a part of the "rushmen" at Ohio State, the group of guys on the defensive line that get after the quarterback every game.

Cj Barnett, the assistant athletic director of player development at Ohio State, was the one that announced Atkinson's black stripe removal and did it in the most hype way possible.

"We've got a black stripe alert," Barnett siad to the team. "This guy is strong as an ox and a problem in the trenches, the newest member of the rushmen, Beau Atkinson."

Of course the team as a whole went crazy over Atkinson earning his place at Ohio State and now he will get the chance to show why he chose to transfer to the Buckeyes and hopefully help lead the team to another National Championship this season.
