The Ohio State football team is trying to close out its 2026 recruiting class on Early Signing Day. Heading into the day, they were confident that most of the recruits who had committed to them would sign. They were even able to flip a recruit from Clemson, as well.

Then, news that Brian Hartline was taking the South Florida job hit. That threw everything into chaos, especially for the wide receivers. Without Hartline coaching the receivers, that crop of commits was suddenly at risk of flipping elsewhere. That includes Chris Henry Jr.

Shortly after the news that Harltine was leaving broke, Henry Jr. announced his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Yet, he still hasn't sent in his paperwork. Now, Henry Jr. has sent out a message that is making fans of the Buckeyes very nervous.

Henry Jr. took to social media to send a message about his future.

That's not exactly news that Ohio State fans love to hear. Hartline moving on clearly has changed what Henry Jr. is thinking. Both Oregon and USC have been trying to bring him in with promises of massive NIL paydays. Yet, Ohio State has the pedigree of developing receivers.

Hartline is part of that pedigree, though. Without him, it will be hard to develop receivers in the same way they have for the last seven seasons. It will be up to Ryan Day to persuade Henry Jr. that nothing changes with how the Buckeyes plan to use him and how they feel about him.

It's unclear what Henry Jr. will decide to do. He hasn't given an indication when he will sign with a program, or which program it will be. The Buckeyes have to keep selling him and recruiting him, something that could have been avoided if Hartline had waited one more day to take this job.

It looked like Henry was locked in with the Buckeyes. Now, it's anyone's guess what he will do.
