Carnell Tate's big game helps the Ohio State football team take down Northwestern
By Ryan Stano
Early on in this game, the Ohio State football team looked sleepy taking on Northwestern. They only had one offensive possession in the first quarter and were still tied 0-0 with the Wildcats. In fact, the Wildcats took an early 7-0 lead in the second quarter. After that, it was all Buckeyes.
The Ohio State Buckeyes were able to take down Northwestern and avoid falling in the trap game. They beat the Wildcats 31-7. One of the big reasons why they were able to get the offense going and win this game is because of wide receiver Carnell Tate.
Tate is a Chicago native and played back home for the first time. He made a couple of incredible catches, including a diving one for a touchdown. In the game, Tate had four catches for 52 yards and two touchdowns. He made sure to show out in his first game back in his hometown.

With all of the talent that the Buckeyes have on the offensive side of the ball, Tate often gets overlooked. He's as dynamic as a receiver as anyone though. If he played for anyone else, he'd be the top option on the team. He's still just a sophomore too. He's only going to get better.
Now that the Buckeyes have won this game, they can fully turn their attention to Indiana. The Hoosiers come into Columbus next week ranked in the top five and are coming off a bye week. Ohio State needs to make sure they start out better in that game than they did in this one.
Beating the Hoosiers pretty much guarantees Ohio State a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes are still hoping for the automatic bid from winning the Big Ten. That goal is still in front of them as well.
