The Ohio State football team only brings back one starting cornerback from last season. Davison Igbinosun is the guy who comes back. He decided to return because he wants to be a first-round pick, and he was not close to being that caliber of corner last season.

While Igbinosun was the most physical corner on the roster, he was too physical at times. He was by far the most penalized cornerback in the country, committing 15 pass interference or holding penalties over the course of the season. He could not stop holding guys.

If he wants to be a first-round pick, he has to curb those penalties. Now that he returns, the Buckeyes have a chance to help coach that out of him. Are they going to be able to? Can the Ohio State Buckeyes turn Igbinosun into a first-round pick with a good year?

The Ohio State football team must get Davison Igbinosun to stop committing so many penalties

The main thing that kept Igbinosun from being an elite corner was the penalties. He is someone who can make incredible plays, but he needs to figure out the line between being too physical and making a play on the ball. That's something Tim Walton needs to help him with.

Ohio State doesn't win the Penn State game last season without Igbinosun. His crazy interception in the end zone was a key play that kept the Buckeyes in the game. It was one of the biggest swings of the entire game. That's the kind of impact he can have when he isn't committing penalties.

How well Walton is able to coach those terrible penalties out of him will determine whether or not he has a shot to be a first-round pick after the season. Igbinosun is incredibly talented, but he has to be more disciplined.
