Yes, no one wants to look past the season-opener for Ohio State and Ryan Day, but come on, it's tough to not already be excited about the Week 2 dance with Texas. The Longhorns want revenge on the Buckeyes after what happened last season, but that's not going to be an easy task. For Texas players too, they know what this contest means.
Just ask new wide receiver Cam Coleman about that. A 5-star transfer, Coleman has all the respect in the world for Ohio State, admitting that he knows this is going to be 'fun' to see the two powerhouses go to war. It also helps set the stage for a matchup a lot of us are already talking about: Coleman vs. Jeremiah Smith.

“It’s going to be a fun game, I’m looking forward to it.”
Cam Coleman knows Texas vs. Ohio State is going to be a blockbuster meeting
Let's make things perfectly clear here too: Coleman isn't throwing shade at Ohio State in any way. Nope, this isn't a piece about how Coleman has given the Buckeyes some serious bulletin-board material ahead of the Sept. 12 dance. Instead, it's him showing Ohio State some respect, which people can appreciate.
At the same time, it's a reminder that this contest is going to be FILLED with some serious talent, with Coleman and Smith standing out alone at receiver. For Smith, he's got multiple goals on his mind for this year. That includes winning the natty and beating Michigan. On top of that, he and Julian Sayin are going to want to make an early statement against the Longhorns.
According to the FanDuel sportsbook, Texas is favored by 1.5 points, making the Buckeyes small underdogs. This can't be ignored, as it gives Day and his players a little extra motivation to prove some people wrong. That's where someone like Smith can come in, as he can completely change a game at the drop of a hat.
The same can be said for Coleman, who is hoping to turn his college career around a bit after things didn't quite go to plan for him at Auburn. Coleman was a highly-touted playmaker via the portal, with Alabama fans hoping he'd sign to play for Kalen DeBoer this season. That didn't happen, with Steve Sarkisian winning a monster recruiting battle.
The thought of Coleman and Arch Manning going to work together must have several defensive coordinators staying up late at night, but it's going to be on Matt Patricia to have a big say in how things are going to go once Week 2 gets here. Slowing down Coleman won't be easy, but the exact same can be said about Smith for the Texas defense. These two are going to look electric with the ball thrown their way, but we're just hoping it all comes in a 27-24 Ohio State win.
