The Ohio State basketball team finally got a solid win this season by taking down the Badgers at home. This was their first Quad 1 win of the season, and one that they desperately needed if they were going to have any shot of making the national championship.

In that game, Bruce Thornton had another excellent game. He scored 24 points in that game and moved up to third place in the all-time scoring list in Ohio State basketball history. The Buckeyes have failed to reach the NCAA Tournament in Thornton's career, but that could change this season.

As the season continues, Thornton has a chance to make history for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The only players ahead of Thornton on the list are Dennis Hopson and William Buford. If things go right, Thornton has a chance to pass them both and become the all-time leading scorer.

The Ohio State basketball team has a shot to se history this year

As the Buckeyes try to get enough wins to secure a berth in the NCAA Tournament, Thornton is on his way to overtaking that record. He averages close to 20 points per game, and that average would allow him to hit that record by the end of the season. That's especially true if they advance a couple of rounds in the Big Ten Tournament.

Thornton deserves to play in March Madness one time in his career. He is a four-time captain of the team and has been their best player in all four years. He has been the best offensive option for the Buckeyes in most of those seasons. Thornton is definitely their best option.

Hopson and Buford had really good Ohio State basketball careers. Buford was able to make the Final Four. Thornton would settle for just being able to play meaningful basketball in the month of March.
