The Ohio State football team is preparing to have another run to a national championship after winning it last season. This time, they have the luxury of getting the bye week. Last season, the Buckeyes had to play four games in the postseason to bring home the national championship.
At the end of the CFP, Hartline will be heading down to Tampa to become a head coach for the first time. He was under a lot of fire after his play-calling in the Big Ten Championship. He should call better plays now that he has had an elongated calendar to prepare for the CFP and put together his new staff.
Speaking of his staff at USF, Hartline has made a new hire. After adding a former Ohio State coach to his staff, Hartline has now decided to hire his brother, Mike. It's a move that many expected, as he will become USF's new quarterbacks coach moving forward.
Brian Hartline hires his brother as he prepares for life after Ohio State
Mike Hartline was coaching at Kentucky, which is where he played football in college. He was an offensive quality control coach for the Wildcats. Now, he gets a chance to work for his brother. Many expected this to be his first hire, but Hartline wanted to get his coordinators set first.
Hartline might not have as big a role with the Buckeyes moving forward. There are some rumors that he won't call plays in the Cotton Bowl, but Day seemed to indicate that Hartline will continue to call plays after the Big Ten Championship. Regardless, Hartline will be with the Buckeyes for at most three more games.
As far as the Buckeyes are concerned, they just want him to help the offense be in the best possible situation to take down whoever they end up facing in the Cotton Bowl.
