Ohio State basketball fans have been critical of Jake Diebler since he took over as the head coach of the program. He finally was able to bring the Buckeyes to the NCAA Tournament this past season, although they lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Once the season ended, the Ohio State Buckeyes lost several players to the Transfer Portal. They have not replenished that talent enough yet, as they have only brought in a couple of transfers so far. Diebler could be part of the problem in that regard, which is why fans are frustrated.

Billy Donovan has decided to leave the Chicago Bulls. Donovan won back-to-back championships with the Florida Gators before moving to the NBA, including beating Ohio State for one of them. If Ross Bjork wants to get a winner, he should try to bring Donovan in as head coach.

The Ohio State basketball program should pursue Billy Donovan

Firing Diebler and replacing him with Donovan would be an incredibly bold move. Firing a head coach a month after the season is almost unheard of, unless there are some legal problems. It would certainly show that Bjork isn't afraid of taking home run swings.

Donovan is one of the best college basketball coaches in history. In his time at Florida, he won over 71 percent of his games. He also made three Final Fours and won two national championships. He's a proven winner and would be able to turn the Buckeyes into one immediately.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Donovan is interested in coaching in college. If he were, he would have left the Bulls earlier and taken the North Carolina job. He will also likely command a massive salary in order to return to the collegiate game.

It's highly likely that Donovan stays in the NBA and looks to take an opening there. Still, it wouldn't hurt for Bjork to make some calls and see if there is any chance that he would be interested in coming to Columbus.
