Big Ten Media Day in Las Vegas is just the start of things for Ohio State and others

With news that Big Ten Media Day will be in Las Vegas, it's just the start of more things that will move West for the Ohio State football program and others.

The Ohio State football program will have to send representatives to Big Ten Media Day, as they do every year. Usually, they are just sending them to Indianapolis or maybe Chicago. This year, they will have to send their reps much further away for the first time.

Big Ten Media Day will be in Las Vegas this year. That announcement is the first time that a major Big Ten event will be further west than Chicago. They are hosting Media Day out there in order for things to be more convenient for the new West Coast members of the conference.

USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington will have shorter trips now. This won't be the first time that the Buckeyes and other Big Ten teams will have to travel farther away for things. The conference members better get used to heading out West more often.

Vegas is going to be hosting the Big Ten tournament in 2028. It wouldn't be surprising to see Los Angeles start hosting other events in the future since they have two members of the conference there now, too. While the travel isn't horrible for the Ohio State Buckeyes, that's not the case for everyone.

Maryland and Rutgers will have a much longer trip to Vegas. Penn State has a long trip, too. Now that the conference has continued to expand from coast to coast, it makes travel much harder for members of the conference who have been established for a while.

This year, Media Day will be from July 22-24th out there in Las Vegas. It will likely continue to be a three-day event now that the conference has 18 members. This is the first time that many fanbases will get to hear from their coaches and players, especially as more programs cancel their Spring games.

Ohio State football players probably are happy to be going to a city like Las Vegas. It can be a lot of fun. I'm sure the coaches will keep them on a short leash.
