Everything, and we mean everything, is going right for Ohio State football this season. The Buckeyes are a perfect 8-0 on the year, with the offense looking spectacular. Meanwhile on the other side of the ball, even well-known Ohio State hater Desmond Howard is showing love to Matt Patricia's defense.

Desmond Howard defies all odds, gives Ohio State a massive compliment

With Ohio State looking so dominant and being the No. 1 team in the country, it has led to people asking the following question: Is this Ohio State team better than the 2024 squad that won the natty? If you ask former Michigan playmaker and current Big Ten Network analyst Jake Butt, that's not a complicated question to answer.

Jake Butt thinks the 2025 Ohio State football team is better than the 2024 squad

“It's absolutely crazy to ask that question, but it's even crazier for me to be able to definitively say that yes they are better than last year's team," Butt said on Saturday. "That's a credit to Ryan Day. What happens when you win a national title, you graduate guys that go to the NFL. They had to replace both coordinators last year. That does not get done successfully without the leadership of Ryan Day.”

Butt is on the call for the OSU vs. Purdue showdown and he delivered that head-turning Ohio State quote right before kickoff. On top of that, Butt didn't hesitate in saying that he believes Day is the best college football coach in the game.

Hey, we'll go ahead and agree with you there, Jake. During the first release of the 2025 College Football Playoff rankings, there was worry that Indiana or Texas A&M would get the No. 1 spot over Ohio State. That didn't happen, with the committee getting things right.

Looking ahead, Ohio State has matchups with UCLA, Rutgers and Michigan on the way following the dance with Purdue. Soon enough, the playoff will get here and the expectation is that Day and Co. will be in a good spot to repeat as champs. If Butt's take on Ohio State proves to be on the money, then everyone in Columbus could be getting ready to celebrate in style once again in January.
