Another former Ohio State football coach gets fired after just two years
By Ryan Stano
Back in 2014, the Ohio State football program had a great offense. They were led by offensive coordinator Tom Herman. That final three-game run against Wisconsin, Alabama, and Oregon was an offensive masterpiece. He parlayed that into a new head coaching job.
Unfortunately, Herman has not been a good head coach for a while. He coached Houston for two seasons before getting the job at Texas. He had a quick fall at Texas after a good second year. After winning ten games in 2018, he finished 8-5 and 7-3 before getting fired.
After that, Herman worked for the Chicago Bears for a year as an offensive analyst. Then, he was hired by FAU as their head coach. Herman just got fired not even three full seasons into the job after accumulating a record of just 6-16. Now, he's out of a job.
Former Ohio State football coach Tom Herman gets fired from FAU
This is the second straight day that a former coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes has been fired. Herman has been on the hot seat for a while. FAU has gone downhill ever since he took over. It seems pretty clear that he's not a good head coach, even if he is a good offensive coordinator.
A certain sector of Buckeye fans will celebrate this. He allegedly called out Urban Meyer for protecting Zach Smith when that whole fiasco was going down, so some Meyer stans will be happy. Herman likely won't get another head coaching position.
Herman is still a relatively young coach at 49 years of age. He'd be a good asset as an offensive coordinator for someone, even though he was fired just two years into a five-year contract with the Owls. The Buckeyes just won't be hiring him anytime soon.
Hopefully, this is the last former Ohio State football coach to get fired this season,
