Analyst could not be more wrong with his ranking of Ohio State's offense

His ranking is disrespectful to the roster that the Buckeyes have heading into the season.

The Ohio State football program is expected to be one of the best teams in the country heading into next year. After a disappointing finish to the 2025 season, the Buckeyes are looking to win a national championship for the second time in three seasons. With the talent that they have, that's a reasonable expectation.

This will be the final season for Jeremiah Smith, who will likely be a top-five pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. He is the best player in the country at any position. It will also be the second season that Julian Sayin will be starting at the quarterback spot. Both of those things should lead them to have a lethal offense.

Yet, not everyone thinks that the Ohio State Buckeyes will have a great offense heading into next season. While some pundits believe that the Buckeyes will have the best offense in the country, one from On3 doesn't even believe they have a top-two offense.

Ohio State offense given disrespectul ranking by On3 pundit

According to JD PicKell of On3, Ohio State has just the third-best offense in the country. He actually has Miami as the top offense. Then, he has Oregon second, meaning that he doesn't even have Ohio State as the best offense in the Big Ten. That could not be more wrong.

PicKell is putting a lot of faith in Darian Mensah coming in from Duke and not missing a beat. He certainly played well in the ACC, but he is not better than Sayin. Dante Moore might be, but he doesn't have a weapon like Smith to throw the ball to. Also, Ohio State has a former head coach as its offensive coordinator.

With four returning offensive linemen returning from last year, the Buckeyes should have an improved offense all the way around. Bo Jackson will be in his second year as the definitive starter, as well. The Buckeyes will be one of the hardest teams in the country to stop.

Ohio State will show its offensive prowess early

The Buckeyes will likely blow out Ball State in Week 1. They might even put up 60 points on the Cardinals because of how good they are. Week 2 will be the real test, when they head to Austin for a night showdown against the Texas Longhorns. If they can put up a lot of points there, their offensive prowess will not be question.

There is a good chance that Ohio State puts up a lot of points against Texas. They have beaten them two years in a row, and it's pretty clear that the Longhorns don't have any answers for Ryan Day's team. Ohio State is just too good across the board. If Chris Henry Jr. is the stud everyone thinks he is, forget about it.

Ohio State is going to be one of the best teams in the country in spite of its tough schedule. They should once again participate in the College Football Playoff, in large part because of their prolific offense.
